The Garden Notebook is illustrated throughout with paintings of flowers and butterflies. Whilst visiting other gardens I jotted notes down on scraps of paper, torn-off envelopes and anything to hand. Once home they were scattered to the four winds and I had great difficulty finding them whenever I looked for them. This was the inspiration for creating The Garden Notebook, to keep my observations and notes in one place. Another point about The Garden Notebook is that it is very flexible because it is not restricted to any one particular year, so notes can be carried over to the following year. But, of course, the notebook can be used for anything, not just gardening!
